Race to the Eclipse

Join us on April 8th, 2024 for a once-in-a-lifetime event, free to the public! The Solar Eclipse will occur across all of North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. It will cross over Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park at approximately 3:05 P.M. Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park has paired with the City of Brownsburg and Visit Hendricks County to provide an amazing Solar Eclipse experience.

Camping pass allows you access to camp in the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park Campground area on the West Side opening on Sunday, April 7th at 12:00PM. Campers MUST be out of the facility by 12:00PM on Tuesday, April 9th.

Anyone who wants to participate as a VENDOR must contact MacKenzie Guell with Brownsburg Parks. This is a free event, though we do require that you stay for the duration of the event. Please direct any questions or concerns to MacKenzie Guell, mguell@brownsburgparks.com.

SCHEDULE:
Starting at 1:00 p.m., event attendees will enjoy:

  • Live Music & Food: Groove to the rhythm of live music while indulging in a mouthwatering array of local flavors.
  • Eclipse Dragstrip Race: Witness the exhilarating spectacle of TWO Nostalgia Front Engine Dragsters racing down the dragstrip during the eclipse – a true sight to behold!
  • Family-Friendly Activities: Bring your family and enjoy a range of activities designed for all ages.
  • On-Site Camping: Look forward to updates on camping options that will let you extend your stay.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Are we selling tickets at the gate for camping? Yes, camping tickets will be available at the gate.
  • What gates do people enter for parking, camping, or dropping someone off etc.? Camping will enter through gate 8. All other spectators will enter through the main gate – off of US Hwy 136.
  • Will the showers and bathrooms be open? Restrooms will be open, but we do not plan to have showers open – at this time.
  • Will there be port a potties & hand washing stations? There will be some, but the restrooms will be open.
  • Will there be glasses to watch the eclipse? Are they free? Yes, glasses will be distributed on-site, upon arrival.
  • Can they ride bicycles into the event? Yes. Those riding their bikes should take all precautionary measures to insure their safety while traveling to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Bike racks will be located by Gate 3.
  • Can they bring dogs? Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on property.
  • Who are the drivers of the Race Cars going down the track? We will have two nostalgia dragsters that will be going down the track.
  • Will there be an ice vendor? Yes, ice can purchased at the concession stand.

What is a Solar Eclipse?
A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The Sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk.
